8 Tips for Choosing a Bird Bath Bubbler:
1. Where to Set Up Your Fountain:
First of all, think about your birdbath location. Will it get a lot of sun, or will you need to set up a solar panel outside of the bird bath? The more power your fountain receives, the longer it can run and the higher it can spray water.
2. How Much Power Does Your Bubbler Need?
Second, if you have a sunny location but get several cloudy days through the year, you’ll want to consider a higher-powered fountain. These can collect and store more power, even on overcast days. As a result, you don’t have to worry about the water effects turning off if you have a bunch of clouds.
3. Should You Pay Extra for Fountain Lights?
Third, do you want to see your fountain at night? The LED bubblers can give quite a light show at night. However, you can save money by getting a bubbler without lights and just enjoy the visual and trickling sound effects during the day.
Note: I personally love the LED lights at night. In fact, it’s one of my favorite aspects of these gadgets. They are very soothing to look at, not to mention entertaining for kids.
4. Do Yo Need to Buy Batteries for the Pump?
Fourth, all of these units run on solar power, so they contain rechargeable batteries. They get re-charged by the sun everyday. Therefore, you don’t have to buy or replace batteries. Nor do you need to take on a complicated electrical or plumbing installation.

Seventh, the pumps on units all come with water filters. This keeps debris from clogging the pump. That said, I use an algae/water clarifier to keep the water clean and minimize buildup on the filter that can slow down water flow.

Eighth, bubblers with LED lights can run 2-4 hours at night, depending on the sun they receive during the day. And, of course, the battery capacity. Thus, the bigger the battery, the longer you can enjoy the lights at night.
